Seb was born on the 15th June 2008, he was 14 weeks early, from day 1 he had a battle to stay alive and overcame everything that was thrown at him, almost, at 3 days old we were told that Seb had, had a massive bleed to the brain and that this was likely to paralyse him, they weren’t sure how else he would be affected until he was older and started to develop. We decided it would be best dealt with when we knew more and decided to just take it as it comes and concentrate on Seb getting home! After 3 and half months on the Special care baby unit in Northampton he was allowed home on oxygen, and in April 2009 he was no longer oxygen dependant.
When Seb was a year old we had a meeting with his consultant and decided that as he hadn’t been making as much progress as maybe he should, we would definitely say that he had Cerebral Palsy, he had scans and had been going to regular physio sessions to help him,
By the time he was 18 months old he was crawling and 2 yrs 6 mo he was able to pull himself up on furniture and cruise around as long as he has something to hold onto, he also started to walk with a small frame, which was excellent from a child that was supposed to be paralysed!
We have now noticed that Seb has started to Plato slightly and have been looking into things that could help that little bit, to increase his independence, Seb is very outgoing and nothing fazes him he will chat away contently to anyone who listens (most people can’t help but listen!) but as he gets older and becomes more aware of his disability this could change.
We found by power of the media and the Internet a procedure called Selective Dorsal Rhyzotomy (SDR) and looked into it at great length, this operation could actually help Seb to walk Independantly! Its no miracle cure, but by way of precision operating by a world specialist Nurosurgeon and some very intense physiotherapy Seb and Children like him can find independence.
Now for the BUT….!
We have been told that the total we will need for the operation and all costs incurred is approx. 57,000USD.
This is where you lovely people step in…….
We will of course be part funding the operation but Seb will need a minimum of a years intensive physio and probably some physio for the rest of his life, we have an amazing physio in Flitwick and will continue to use Magda there.
We need as much money as we can possibly get to help our little boy to walk and we hope to be able to offer lots of fun on the way! We will keep you updated with our journey!

Thankyou in Advance
